Stepping Stones: The Antidote for Suffering

I’ve been thinking about suffering. At some point in our lives we will all be affected by it whether it is a friend, loved one, or ourselves. I’m sure that you are all familiar with the usual response; “Why does God allow us to suffer?” There are many reasons. Sometimes it is God’s discipline. It is the only way He may be able to get our attention. When we are not living for Him, as we should, He will take the necessary steps as a loving father would, to provide the circumstances to bring us back to Him. Sometimes personal suffering is not for us, but designed for the benefit of those around us. Sometimes suffering is simply due to the fact that we live in a world filled with heartache and sin. But you need to know that whatever the reason for your suffering, God has not, nor will ever abandon you. He is completely able to deliver you. But what He chooses to do is for our best and for His purposes.
Today, perhaps you find yourself in the midst of suffering today. It can be a deep, dark, valley of heartache and despair. All He requires from you is faith and obedience. The old hymn says it best: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Try trusting and obeying and see what God does. Prayer
Father, You have told us in your Word to “be thankful in all things.” That means suffering also. Thank You for teaching me, using me, or whatever Your divine purpose may be. In my weakness, Father, I need Your strength which You’ve promised to give in measure, not for next week but for now, moment by moment. Thank You, Father, for keeping every promise You have ever made…”therefore my soul trusteth in Thee.” In Jesus comforting name, and all God’s children said, -AMEN!
